Description
The comfortable Apolonia II apartment is a successful combination of historical and modern elements. The bright apartment is situated in a completely renovated old town building of the 17th century in a perfectly central location between the Tagus estuary and the famous old town quarter Alfama. The distance to the river is only about 100 m. You can enjoy a relaxing blue color while sitting in the living room through the three big double wing doors with its French balconies. Due to the proximity of the station and a one-way street in front of the house your hear some noise. With the windows closed, however, is quiet in the apartment.
Historical elements of the stunning building merge perfectly with the modern equipment of the apartment. The kitchen and the bathroom are tastefully decorated with “Azulejos”, the famous 200 year old Portuguese tiles. A modern equipped kitchen awaits you. Both bedrooms and the open space living and dining room offer you air conditioning that will allow you a comfortable stay even during the hot summer season and in winter time.
The apartment is located directly in front of the Santa Apolonia train station – a perfect starting point to discover the city. We recommend you to start with the Alfama quarter which starts directly above the apartment. We are sure you will like this picturesque old town quarter with its middle-aged lanes. The best is to just drift around and visit the famous flea-market Feira da Ladra which takes place twice a week (Tue + Sat) at Campo de Santa Clara just around the corner.
Some tasty restaurants and nice cafes are located in the neighborhood of the apartment. We recommend you to have dinner at one of the famous traditional Fado restaurants and enjoy the beautiful Lisbon music live. If you like this Portuguese tradition, you can visit the Fado museum which is located just some walking minutes away. As a contrast, you can visit the renovated storage buildings at the harbor just at the other side of Santa Apolonia station. Now they accommodate stylish shops and famous clubs. From Santa Apolonia metro station it will take you just some minutes to get to the central shopping district Baixa.
